Full course description
This course is designed to equip faculty with a comprehensive understanding and practical applications of interprofessional education (IPE) within the medical curriculum. As healthcare increasingly relies on diverse teams of professionals working collaboratively, it is essential for physicians to be adept in interprofessional settings. This course will cover fundamental aspects of IPE, detail the Interprofessional Education Collaborative (IPEC) core competencies, and offer strategies for effectively teaching and guiding medical students in the realm of IPE at Harvard Medical School (HMS).
Learning Objectives
At the conclusion of this course, faculty will be able to
- Define interprofessional education and explain why it is important to the practice of a physician.
- Describe each Interprofessional Education Collaborative (IPEC) core competency and identify where it is taught in the HMS curriculum.
- Apply educational materials for the instruction and guidance of medical students in the domain of interprofessional education at HMS.
