Full course description
The Trauma Informed Care modules will guide participants through a trauma-informed approach to clinical precepting. The learner will review the theory of trauma-informed care (TIC) as described by the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) explore the best TIC clinical practices, describe trauma-informed precepting, and introduce trauma-informed self-care (TISC). Lastly, the module aims to highlight the benefits of TIC as a universal approach to patient care.
Learning Objectives
By the end of this module, you will be able to
- Define trauma and explain its association with a wide range of adverse health outcomes;
- Explain the six principled of trauma-informed care (TIC) as described by the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA);
- Explain the benefits of TIC as a universal approach to patient care.
